Today I took Tess and the puppies to the vet for their 6 week check-up. Yes, it was me and 12 dogs in the car again. Each time I have gone to the vet it has gotten a little more interesting. The puppies were in the third row in a car carrier, Tess was lounging in the middle row and I was singing along with them from the drivers seat. Let me just say that 11 puppies can be very loud. Thankfully, we got the red carpet treatment again at the vet. We pulled up and Dr. Redden and a couple of techs came out to the car and helped me bring everyone in the back door (that way the puppies aren't exposed to other animals and it minimizes their stress level - as you can see from the pictures, they were definitely not stressed).
Their check-up was excellent. Dr. Redden said that they are the healthiest best looking litter of puppies she has seen in a long time. That made me so proud of Tess and my family. We have all contributed to the care of these puppies. We have tried our hardest to raise the best puppies possible and I guess it shows. You know the vet is pleased when she and her techs are smiling and taking pictures of Tess and her puppies. The puppies are 100% healthy. They received their 3rd round of deworming medicine, 1st round of shots and will receive their first Interceptor (heartworm medicine) on Thursday. The puppies now weigh about 11lbs. each. It is incredible to think that one puppy weighs as much now as they did combined at birth!!!
We will thoroughly enjoy the last couple of days with these sweet babies!
